Periodic Inspection and Testing

All Testing is carried out with the latest, top quality test equipment

We provide inspection and testing of fixed electrical installations and equipment (up to and including three phase 400V ac circuits), in domestic and commercial environments, in accordance with BS 7671 2008(2011)  (Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Wiring Regulations - 17th Edition).
All electrical installations should be inspected and tested on a regular basis. The time interval between inspections is dependant on the type of installation e.g. domestic installations may be a maximum of 10 years or when there is a change of circumstances, whilst a construction site may require inspection only at 3 monthly intervals. This is particularly suited for rental properties where there may be an annual change of tenant, the landlord must obtain an Electrical Installation Condition Report every time the tenant changes. The periodic inspection and test includes a thorough visual inspection looking at all aspects of the electrical installation together with extensive testing. We can inspect and test your installation and issue you with a 'Electrical Installation Condition Report' which, together with a 'Schedule of Inspections' and a 'Schedule of Tests'', will confirm that the installation is safe and 'fit for purpose' and will also identify any areas that require remedial work to satisfy the effectiveness and safe operation of your electrical installation.

Routine Visual Inspection

Regular inspections also need to be performed on electrical installations between Periodic Inspections, usually on an annual basis, as damage and deterioration can occur. To meet this requirement we offer a less comprehensive inspection which is limited to a visual inspection and some functional testing. This is a low cost option particularly suited to potential home buyers. A visual inspection of the electrical installation is carried out to determine the age of the wiring and accessories, it's general condition and compliance with current standards. If the installation is found to be generally satisfactory, a full inspection including testing of circuits can be carried out if requested by the client.

Portable Appliance Testing

The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. We can inspect and test appliances as either part of a Periodic Inspection, Landlord's check or separately as required.
